China Potash Market showing a trend of steady growth

release time:2020-07-08

China potash fertilizer market is currently showing a trend of steady growth, which has been going on for a month. In fact, there are a few cases of already rising prices. For example, the 62% potash at the Manchuria port of China north border trade has risen from about 1550 Yuan/ton in the early stage to 1580-1600Yuan/ton now.

The price of potassium chloride KCL is close to the lowest cost, and the downstream acceptance of the current price is acceptable, but it is not urgent to purchase. The manufacturers of potash sulphate generally have no inventory pressure, and even individual manufacturers' order plan has been scheduled for August. Nevertheless, on the whole, the price of potassium chloride or potassium sulphate remains stable for the time being. Potash fertilizer wants to rise, but need some chances.

The problem is " Balance". At present, the total storage capacity of KCL is about 3.3 million tons, compared with 4.2 million tons at the peak of the end of February and 3.75 tons at the end of April. However, it is still much larger than the same period in previous years, but the price is near the lowest cost line. In the past two months , the importing volume has not been much, and the stock in the downstream is very limited. Buyer and seller both experienced waiting and seeing, purchasing, then continue to wait and see. Both are in the balance position and harmonious sometimes.  In addition, the international market has only gone up a few times on Brazil big granule CIF price, also nearly same price level as the China big potash contract price, and other regions is stable or continuous to fall. So, from the price and supply and demand situation, there is no impetus for pulling domestic prices for the time being.

Can potassium chloride and potassium sulphate rise? what are the main concerns? I believe that the price increase of potash is indeed a trend in the late stage, but from a risk point of view potassium chloride is suitable for long-term planning, and potassium sulphate is suitable for short term follow-up. Specifically, KCL mainly needs to pay attention to the scale of imported potassium, K2SO4 mainly needs to concern the inventory changes of factories.
