Sustainable development

During the Shanghai International Carbon Neutral Technology, Products and Results Expo 2024 (hereinafter referred to as "Shanghai Carbon Neutrality Expo"), BASF and CNOOC BlueChemical Co., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as "CNOOC Chemical") signed a memorandum of understanding on the establishment of a Joint Laboratory for Green Carbon-Chemical Advanced Technology (hereinafter referred to as "Joint Laboratory").

The collaboration aims to build a joint innovation platform to jointly develop sustainable, green and low-carbon solutions and technologies.

Dr. Wei Guohui, Vice President and Head of Global Chemical Catalysts at BASF, and Mr. Li Songtao, Deputy Chief Engineer and General Manager of the Science and Technology Information Department of CNOOC Chemical, signed the memorandum of understanding on behalf of both parties. Dr. Lou Jianfeng, President and Chairman of BASF China, Mr. Pang Hanming, Senior Vice President and Head of Business and Market Development of BASF China, Dr. Han Wei, Vice President of BASF and Head of Shanghai Innovation hub, Dr. Liu Huihong, Chief Engineer of CNOOC Chemical Carbon-Rich Natural Gas Engineering Technology Center and Director of the Comprehensive Utilization Research Office, also some other people attended and witnessed the signing ceremony.

Based on memorandum of understanding, BASF and CNOOC Chemical will cooperate in the development of sustainable technologies in various fields, Including carbon dioxide synthesis gas technology, green methanol and green ammonia preparation and application, green hydrogen preparation and purification technology, green olefin synthesis, green olefin oligomerization and hydrogenation of green olefin production of green fuel and sustainable aviation fuel products (electronic fuel, electronic aviation fuel) and other area’s technical cooperation. The two sides will jointly promote the development of carbon dioxide emission reduction and green energy application technologies, as well as strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the field of sustainable development.
