Nearly 80% of phosphorus is likely to be fixed by soil not uptake by plant.MAP and DAP contain 'orthophosphate' that is single phosphate molecule. But it easily becomes locked and unavailable to plants ,causing huge phosphorus loss.

Ammonium Polyphosphate (APP) is not subject to this lock up due to its long chain structure. This structure will slowly react with the root secreted acid and soil microorganisms as well as other factors and then change to 'orthophosphate' which is uptake by the plants.This is why polyphosphate is a slow release P with better utilization and less waste.
