The Brazilian startup Revella Tech showcased its latest agrochemical innovations at this year's Andav Congress, the largest event in Brazil's agricultural input distribution sector, covered especially by AgroPages.

Revella Tech's product portfolio features bioactives and nutrients structured at the nanoscale, designed to be incorporated into fertilizers, adjuvants, and seed treatments for comprehensive crop nutrition and protection.

Attending the event for the first time, the startup introduced itself as "specialized in developing nano, micro, and bio solutions for agriculture." Gabriel Nunes de Freitas, a materials engineer and co-founder and general director of Revella, explained that incorporating active ingredients at the nanoscale offers a unique opportunity for the agricultural sector.

The nanoproducts aim to enhance the performance of conventional field molecules, reduce the indiscriminate use of pesticides and fertilizers, and align with better crop management practices.

Product Launches

One highlight at the event was the new Sylos line, featuring products with active ingredients based on copper nanoparticles and copper-zinc nanoparticles. Using nano-copper and nano-zinc enables the controlled release of the ingredients, increasing permeability, stability, and solubility. 

According to Revella Tech, the primary advantage is a 66% reduction in dosage compared to complexed organic copper when used with multisite fungicides. ″These ingredients support the new global trend of achieving field results with less environmental impact,″ Gabriel Nunes de Freitas said.

In soybean cultivation, he noted, numerous experimental protocol results show an increase of up to 8 bags per hectare in the 2023/24 harvest from applying 2% to 5% of nanotechnologies in client formulations. ″This corresponds to dosages of about 15ml/ha,″ added the director of the startup making its debut at Andav Congress 2024.

He detailed that another technical advantage of the nanocoating technology in the Sylos line is that it enhances fertilizer efficiency and prevents premature degradation of active ingredients under adverse conditions. ″This ensures regulated release with high absorption efficiency for crop growth, whether through soil, roots, or leaves,″ Nunes emphasized.

Revella Tech also introduced its newest molecule, nanoselenium, at the Andav Congress. This innovative additive ingredient is poised to transform plant nutrition and protection. Gabriel explained that nano selenium in agriculture offers benefits such as increased disease resistance, improved root size and structure, significant gains in nodulation production, enhanced quality of plant production, and direct contribution to combating water stress.

The specialist further explained that selenium is an essential micronutrient playing a crucial role in the health of humans, animals, and microorganisms. Though vital in small amounts, it has an optimal application range. ″Therefore, using selenium nanoparticles (SeNp) presents a significant potential and an efficient alternative for agribusiness,″ he concluded.

″This is our first participation as exhibitors at the Andav Congress, and we are excited to share our recent advances in nanotechnology that provide new tools for agriculture. It will be an excellent opportunity to showcase our results and support profitable and sustainable production. We believe agriculture needs increasingly effective solutions beyond what conventional agrochemicals have shown,″ emphasized the director of Revella.

Revella entered the market in 2011 as a spin-off from TNS Nano. Over the past three years, the company has acquired over 32 clients and conducted more than 80 protocols across 10 states in Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay.
