According to statistics, from January to August 2025, China (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) exported a total of 27.92 million tons of various fertilizers, a year-on-year increase of 41.7%. Ammonium sulfate was the most exported fertilizer variety, with a cumulative export volume of 12.8954 million tons from January to August.
Affected by the sharp increase in the export of 8-40-0 nitrogen-phosphorus compound fertilizer, the cumulative export of nitrogen-phosphorus compound fertilizer under the HS code 31055900 reached 3.5213 million tons, becoming the phosphorus compound fertilizer variety with the largest year-on-year export growth.
In August 2025, the top five fertilizer varieties exported from China were:
①Ammonium sulfate 1.8562 million tons,
②Urea 796,700 tons,
③Nitrogen-phosphorus compound fertilizer 610,200 tons,
④Diammonium phosphate (DAP) 545,200 tons,
⑤Monoammonium phosphate (MAP) 440,700 tons.
From January to August 2025, the top five fertilizer and raw material varieties imported into China were:
①Potassium chloride (excluding pure potassium chloride) 7.5643 million tons,
②Sulfur 7.2167 million tons,
③Apatite (unground) 1.0157 million tons,
④NPK compound fertilizer 760,100 tons,
⑤Ammonia 302,100 tons.
In August 2025, China imported
778,700 tons of sulfur,
769,600 tons of potassium chloride (including pure potassium chloride),
77,700 tons of NPK compound fertilizer, and
17,500 tons of ammonia.
